Orthodontist Bites Off Solution to Teeth-Pulling Problem

What It’s About

An orthodontist springs into action with an innovative solution.

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

Grant says that when it comes to side hustles to, “Look for ways to improve the job you are currently in!” By choosing a hustle that involves your day job, you are more aware of what that audience needs.

Plus, you likely have a network of people in your field that can provide valuable feedback on your idea, or even be a future customer!

Fun Fact

Not only did Grant invent something that helped him with his day job, he also used materials that were already available to him at his office. He says that his invention was less like an experiment, and more like taking the materials around him and configuring them into something new.

Notes from Chris

Episode 917

For the last sixteen years, Grant Coleman has worked as an orthodontist. Between all of the procedures he’s performed, the teeth he’s cleaned, and the times he’s told his patients to floss, he started to notice that some of the ways he did things seemed a little old-school.

Not like the dentist-from-Little-Shop-of-Horrors, but old school, nonetheless. Grant was particularly concerned with the way that they fixed “impacted teeth.” Impacted teeth are teeth that are stuck in the gums, and it was Grant’s job to get those teeth to come out. It can be a slow, painful process that typically involves attaching a gold chain to the tooth and pulling it down little by little, over a series of appointments.

Grant felt that it was best to leave the gold chains to “Mr. T, pocket watches, and grandma’s spectacles.” Surely, the dental industry was ready for something new.

So, leaning on his experience performing this procedure over and over, Grant started tinkering around with objects lying around the office to create a new version of the antique gold chain. His prototype was a nickel-titanium coil that could continuously pull the tooth down without multiple appointments.

With this shiny new device in hand, Grant brought it into the office and started to use it on the next few patients with impacted teeth. He was amazed with the results! Not only did his invention look better than that infamous gold chain, it also moved the tooth way faster than anything he had seen before. Grant then sent his product to a friend in the industry for him to try out too—and the results were the same. His invention worked!

Over the next five years, Grant kept using the device and making tweaks to the design. Although his prototype worked, he hoped to improve the device even further, both in its function and for the comfort of the patient.

After many experiments, he was confident that he had created a truly solid design. Time after time, it worked better than anything else he had ever seen—and he didn’t know anyone else who had made anything like it. Soon, he was having thoughts of producing his invention on a large scale and selling it to orthodontists all across the country. Not only did he have a great new tool to use at work, he had also stumbled across a major business opportunity.

After getting the Isoglide Spring FDA approved, he officially launched his online store in May of 2019. It’s very early days—we’re recording this in early July 2019—but he’s already bringing in $3,000-$4,000 a month, most of which he’s reinvesting back into the company.

Although the product isn’t making him a ton of money just yet, it is making his full-time job easier by decreasing the time he needs to spend with each impacted tooth patient. He’s also got his family involved, with a whole room dedicated to the Isoglide Spring in their house.

Grant says that in an ideal world, the business will grow substantially in the next few years. For his part, he plans to reach out to local orthodontic groups, attend trade shows, and amp up his social media presence. He also says that for him, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. He knows that he has a great idea and that all of his work will pay off in the end.

Nomad Scripts “Stories that Matter” for B Corps

What It’s About

A journalism school graduate helps organizations share their brand story through a new medium.

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

For anyone wanting to launch a similar side hustle, Quinn recommends using the resources in front of you before investing in equipment since gear has lots of upfront costs. And when it comes to ensuring that what you’re producing is in line with what your client is looking for, she says you should, “Ask story-driven questions so that you can create something that resonates with their target audience. Figure out what their values are and who the people are behind the company.”

Fun Fact

While at the “Stop Question Frisk” program rally, Quinn learned that she was the only journalist there. She caught some video footage and followed one of the cases into the courtroom. She created a short documentary film that ended up gaining more than 8 million online views in an age before Instagram. This was the moment that Quinn knew she was pretty good at editing and producing video footage to tell compelling stories.

Notes from Chris

Episode 916

From a young age, Oregon native, Quinn Rose Schneider, has been a visionary, storyteller, and dreamer. As a child, she would watch 60 Minutes with her parents and imagine becoming a journalist, documenting meaningful stories all over the world.

Her love for storytelling later led her to attend NYU to study journalism. While there, she navigated living in a busy, bustling city while juggling academic studies. But, midway through her degree, she decided to take a year off to wander and film her way through India.

With camera in hand, she was becoming the storyteller she always wanted to be. It may not have been on 60 Minutes, but for Quinn, it was just as exciting! She even began swapping her guerrilla video skills for room and board at various Ashrams. It was her first taste into bartering a life in exotic places.

Although she eventually headed back to New York City to finish her degree, her time in India showed her that she wanted to make a bigger impact in this world. One of her professors encouraged her to go to a rally against the “Stop Question Frisk” program which was a program that allows police to stop, question, and frisk anyone they felt was carrying a weapon or seen as a threat to others, even without any evidence—a program that research showed disproportionately targeted minorities.

Quinn made a short documentary film that ended up gaining more than 8 million online views in an age before Instagram. This was the moment that she knew she was pretty good at editing and producing video footage to tell compelling stories.

Upon graduation, she resumed traveling, sometimes freelancing by helping businesses with copywriting and email marketing. But her video production work was where her real passion lay. In Brazil, she stumbled across an opportunity on LinkedIn that led to her shooting courtside as a beach volleyball reporter during the Rio Olympics.

It was an exciting life, but as they say, “all roads lead back home,” and Quinn’s path was no different. She decided that she wanted to work for a “B Corporation”—a growing trend in business that actively works to balance purpose and profit. She continued to do her freelance work as a copywriter, but over time, her new video-focused digital content business, Story Based Brands, began to take shape.

After her first major, corporate client, Quinn was able to purchase her own video and editing equipment. She built a simple website using WordPress to highlight her work, and eventually weaned herself out of freelance work to pursue Story Based Brands full-time. Since launching July 25th, 2019, she’s worked with over a dozen clients.

While Quinn’s childhood dream of being a reporter on 60 Minutes may not have come true, her dream of being a visionary behind the lens has scripted itself into one promising story.

“MOMBOX” Subscription Offers Postpartum Recovery Products

What It’s About

A self-care box to save new moms awkward trips to Target.

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

According to Kate, you should make a list of the first five things you need to do and go do them—they don’t have to look glamorous or polished! Wake up the next day and repeat. Eventually, after you put one foot in front of the other for long enough, you’ll have your side hustle.

Fun Fact

Kate gave birth to MOMBOX right after she gave birth to her son. When her trip to Target turned up a limited selection of postpartum recovery products, she knew there was something wrong. In a time where Amazon can deliver toothbrushes and groceries to your doorstep, it was absurd that women who needed the convenience most couldn’t get any help.

Notes from Chris

Episode 915

When Kate Westervelt gave birth to her son in 2016, she thought that the most painful part of pregnancy was over. But what she didn’t realize was that the postpartum recovery period for moms can be just as difficult as well…

Just 72 hours after delivering her son, Kate found herself headed to Target alongside her husband. Nobody had told her that so many things were required for her own self-care, and she only found out from the nurse that she would need things like pads, creams, bath soaks, and nursing aids. Kate had prepared the nursery but failed to prepare anything for herself.

Rather than risk sending her husband into the store to figure out which nipple palm was best, Kate decided to go itself. In pain and with an ice pack stuffed in her underwear, she found herself wandering the aisles of Target. To her dismay, the store had an underwhelming selection.

By the time she was done shopping, she was so exhausted and upset that she snapped at the in-store barista simply for not leaving room for milk in her coffee. That was when Kate realized that she was under far too much stress. The entire experience was too much for her, and something had to be done.

In the age of convenience where Amazon can deliver anything from groceries to razors to our doorsteps, Kate knew there had to be a better way for moms to get their postpartum products. After all, they were the ones who needed the convenience the most. But her research in the online space turned up few results—and there was no serious conversation happening around the topic. This was an opportunity that she knew she could take advantage of.

With that in mind, Kate decided to build MOMBOX, which would provide a range of quality care products in packages.

To determine which products to include in each box, Kate first relied on her personal experience during her postpartum recovery. But as she expanded, she started testing the products herself. One memory she will never forget is wearing different maternity pads around her house for an entire year just so that she could figure out which one was the most durable.

She also did more homework in the form of customer surveys and market research. This led to several findings, one of which was that over one-third of women giving birth in America will have a cesarean section, and these mothers would have very different needs from those who had just given birth to their child vaginally. This guided her in deciding the type of products that she should offer.

The first sale that Kate made came through a social media post. Her friends who noticed her new business idea supported her, and eventually, news of MOMBOX spread through word of mouth. This customer acquisition strategy was cheap, and Kate could just focus on building a product so good that women would talk about on their own. It also aligned with something she found in her research: women are innately social and 60% of them would look around social media before making a purchase decision around motherhood.

With a strategy that focused on keeping costs low, Kate managed to grow MOMBOX into a profitable business. Fast forward to today, and MOMBOX now generates over $5,000 a month in profit. She typically sells 100 – 200 MOMBOXs each month, with 60 – 70% of boxes being purchased as gifts.

She’s now exploring paid advertising as a customer acquisition channel, and working on improving her inventory management. To that end, Kate is in the midst of hiring a fulfillment manager to handle her shipping. The ability to get additional help has given her the flexibility and freedom to spend her time as she pleases, which is what she calls the best part of growing MOMBOX.

Online Tea Store Becomes Matcha-Made in Heaven

What It’s About

Restaurant manager uses her creativi-tea to brew up a side hustle that’s a matcha made in heaven.

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

Luciana attributes keeping 3 Leaf Tea as a side hustle early on as a big factor in her success. She was able to keep herself paid and supported while she worked her way up to leaving the restaurant.

This is the way of the side hustle … build a bridge to the future you want. Start where you are, and accept that there will be challenges!

Fun Fact

Matcha tea, while still somewhat obscure in the USA, is extremely popular around the world. What started out as a Japanese tradition has grown into a 3 billion dollar industry. The main consumers of matcha are the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, France, and Australia. [Source]

Notes from Chris

Episode 914
Luciana Torous is a lover of all things tea. This mild obsession started during her high school days, where she often struggled with anxiety and OCD. She had trouble quieting her mind and found it difficult to switch off and become present in the moment.

That all changed the day she visited a tea house with some friends. It was the first time she’d experienced properly brewed tea, and she instantly adored it. The aromas, flavors and ritualistic process of properly brewed tea resonated with her. The experience calmed her down and helped alleviate the symptoms of her anxiety.

Shortly after the trip to the tea house, a childhood friend returned from a student exchange in Japan. As a souvenir, she brought Luciana some matcha tea. Matcha is a traditional Japanese green tea. Taken from tea leaves and ground into a fine powder; it’s commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies.

For Luciana, it was a matcha-made in heaven, the beginning of a brew-tea-ful friendship. The tea became a part of her daily ritual. After drinking a cup, she felt calm, alert and mentally clear.

She became interested in the health benefits that matcha provided and felt like this relatively unknown tea from Japan needed to hit the mainstream. So, Luciana decided she’d start a business selling matcha tea.

The only issue was, Luciana had no business experience and no idea where to start. On top of that, she already had a full-time job. By now it was 2014, Luciana had graduated high school and was working as a manager at a local Mexican restaurant. Although she was busy working, it was also time to get busy learning.

She read articles and books on starting a business. She asked her mom for a loan of three thousand dollars to get started. The money was spent mostly on importing matcha tea from Japan—as well as other herbs and blends to mix in to create different flavors.

Because the money didn’t go far, Luciana took advantage of the kitchen at the restaurant after hours. There, she used her creativi-tea and ran experiments on different blends of teas, which tasted the best, worked to give clarity of mind and had the nicest aromas. When she was confident in her creations, she tried some of them on her co-workers.

After a few months of positive feedback, she decided to build a website and start selling online. She chose the name 3 Leaf Tea. Namely, because tea often grows in 3 leaf combinations along with the bud. Plus, 3LT incorporated her initials.

Now, a few years later, Luciana is not looking back. Her physical store is doing well, and sales from her online store continue to grow: so much so that she is now profiting thousands of dollars per month, all while only a few years out of high school.

So, when the path to success seems far away, remember that you can start small. With consistent work, your idea will eventually hit the boiling point!

A Packed Closet Leads to Secondhand Subscription Boxes

What It’s About

A professional organizer takes stock of her closet … then sells it to others.

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

In addition to all of the business principles that Liz runs And We Evolve by, she also has a “happy policy” for herself. After she gets a new order or subscriber, Liz stops what she’s doing and jumps up and down to celebrate! Hustling can be exhausting and a lot of hard work, so Liz says that it is vital to celebrate those moments of success.

Fun Fact

One of Liz’s favorite things to do is assign an evening to work on a batch of boxes. She’ll pick out the clothes for six or ten boxes and then binge-listen to a podcast while steaming, folding, and packing each order. While that may sound tedious to some, it’s a cherished routine for Liz and a big part of why she does this—it’s fun!

Notes from Chris

Episode 913
Liz Funk spent her college years picking through the tiny vintage shops tucked away in little corners of New York City. She loved combing through the racks in search of hidden treasures. To this day, she lovingly looks back on her major scores, like the time when she found a beautiful black dress in the East Village for just $2 or a pair of Aldo yellow heels for $5.

But Liz lived in a small Brooklyn apartment, and that meant that when it came to her closet space, the struggle was >u>real. One day as she was staring into that closet, she realized that she had a lot of clothes she just didn’t wear anymore (and of course, she wanted to buy more!).

This got her thinking. She knew that she wasn’t the only woman struggling with this problem. There were piles of clothes just laying dormant in closets across the country, and Liz wished that there was a better way to get them from Woman A to Woman B. Although she loved sifting through consignment shops, she knew that a lot of people didn’t.

Plus, so many vintage shops were becoming selective about the clothes they would take. Even GoodWill, a place known for taking just about anything, only sells about 20% of the textiles they receive. The other 80% is sold to recycling companies, which turns the garments into carpet padding or house insulation.

So for a while, Liz shoved her big ideas for secondhand clothing into the back of her closet. But, she still loved shopping until she dropped for vintage clothing, so that’s what she kept doing. Soon, she had a huge inventory full of amazing pieces, even in sizes that didn’t fit! She started giving her treasures away to friends. As Liz says, it became her “odd love language.”

The frequent gifting led her to start working on an online store, where she could upload pictures of the pieces she found … and then sell them for a higher rate than she bought them. She called it And We Evolve.

To her delight, she started making a small amount of money each month from reselling the clothes. But Liz wasn’t ready to hang up her hat—or list it for sale—just yet. She knew she could make it even bigger and better.

Sometimes, side hustles aren’t always about building a business bigger and bigger. In Liz’s case, And We Evolve provided a way to make a little extra money every month from something that she’s passionate about.

Each month she keeps around $500 to use for whatever she wants and reinvests another $400-$1000 back into the business. This extra income provides added support to her day to day life, all while having the added bonus of being something that contributes to a cause that she’s passionate about: reducing the negative effects of textile production.

In the future, Liz hopes to continue ironing out her business so she can provide the most interesting and affordable secondhand fashion business she can … all without running herself ragged.

“Bendy Straw” Idea Raises $1.8M on Kickstarter

What It’s About

When a plastic covered beach proves to be the last straw, one woman manufactures a solution that doesn’t suck…

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

Here’s a fantastic lesson in marketing from Emma:

“Emma set up a Google News alert for anything that had to do with plastic straw waste or government bans. She’d then take the names of journalists behind those articles and put them in a big list to use later as her press list when the Kickstarter launched.”

Fun Fact

Months before the final design for The Final Straw was created, there were already knockoff products being made in China and sold in the U.S. It created quite the nightmare for Emma and her co-founder, Miles.

Notes from Chris

Episode 912

Emma Cohen was always interested in sustainability. While working for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, she completed her masters in Environmental Management and Sustainability from Harvard Extension School. She was involved in important work, but she wondered if there was a way to be more personally proactive about fighting plastic pollution. One day in Thailand, she found it.

While traveling around Southeast Asia, Emma was walking along a beach that was completely covered in plastic waste.

For her, it was the last straw… She became an activist against single-use plastics, talking up the issue with friends and then in a local TEDx talk about how plastic was harming our oceans. And it was through being vocal that Emma was introduced to Miles Pepper in 2017.

Miles had an idea that he’d been sitting on for a while: a reusable straw that can be bent into a small case, but still capable of being stiff enough to not feel flimsy in a drink. With his idea and her professional background, it seemed like a match made in heaven.

They got to work right off the bat. They found a local designer to create a CAD design, printed a few prototypes at a local machine shop in Los Angeles, and within just a few months, landed on a rough design they were proud of: a silicone interior wrapped in metal tubes that could be connected to create a firm outer straw.

The result was a collapsible straw that could fit in a pocket or purse, but still strong enough once the metal pieces were connected to stir a thick drink with. They called it The Final Straw.

Emma set up a Google News alert for anything that had to do with plastic straw waste or government bans. She’d then take the names of journalists behind those articles and put them in a big list to use later as her press list when the Kickstarter launched.

They got a few sales over the next few days, along with a couple of articles on small websites, but nowhere near close to their $12,500 goal. But then—like a diver rushing into the water to save a plastic-trapped turtle in the ocean—Buzzfeed got involved.

Someone there had created a short video about The Final Straw and plastic pollution. It was a huge hit: over 30 million people watched it. Emma and Miles blew past their $12,500 goal, reaching over $100,000 in backing within a couple of days. And that was just the beginning.

Some of the success came down to timing. Plastic straws were already in the news a lot, and including The Final Straw was an easy way to add something interesting and unusual to an article on the part of the journalist.

By the end of the campaign, Emma and Miles had raised $1.8 million dollars and sold over 100,000 straws to strangers.

When the real Final Straws finally started shipping out in October, the team was flooded with great reviews. Customers loved the straw, and those that had accidentally purchased a counterfeit emailed Emma and told her how much better the real one was compared to the fakes. And the sales have been rolling in ever since.

But Emma knows that in order to The Final Straw a sustainable brand—and not a one-time product that’s endlessly knocked off—she needs to keep innovating.

Thankfully, Emma’s not letting her knockoff troubles slow down innovation. She’s thrilled to begin releasing new products in 2019 to fight other areas of single-use plastic waste, like reusable cutlery and water bottles. The best part of it—despite the challenges—is knowing she’s helping people all over the world get excited about fighting plastic pollution with a straw that doesn’t suck.

Irish “Athleisure” Brand Achieves Seamless Six-Figure Sales

What It’s About

Three friends build an athleisure brand for the Irish masses!

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

As lifestyles change, people are looking for different experiences and products to reflect that change. I hang out in bars sometimes, but I’m just as likely (probably more likely) to go for a run or have coffee instead of making the pub my evening entertainment.

Clearly, I’m not the only one. If you travel, notice what other countries are doing … then consider if it might apply at some point to your country.

Fun Fact

Despite their remarkable success, Gym Plus Coffee launched on the worst possible day—Blue Monday. Typically falling on the third Monday in the month of January, Blue Monday is regarded as the most depressing day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. People also tend to have the least amount of disposable income because it falls right after the holiday’s end. As Diarmuid so eloquently put it, “We completely missed the holiday sales—mostly because we are idiots!”

Notes from Chris

Episode 910

Diarmuid McSweeney along with co-founders Niall Horgan and Karl Swaine, are the lads behind the successful Irish athletic and leisure brand, Gym Plus Cofee. This caffeinated triumvirate launched in January 2017 and earned a hearty six-figure revenue in their first year.

G+C features a variety of products including hoodies, t-shirts, tanks, leggings, hats, and accessories—everything athleisure. What started as a side hustle has now grown to a major operation. So how did they do it?

When Diarmuid started Gym Plus Coffee, he was working as a strategy director in an advertising agency. During one of his regular coffee meetups with mates Niall and Karl, they got to talking about the growing lifestyle shift in Ireland. They realized people didn’t want to only hang out in pubs, drinking alcohol.

More and more people were looking for active things to do. Corner cafes were quickly becoming the place to meet and socialize. Meanwhile, outdoor workouts and trail running throughout Ireland’s bucolic backdrop were in vogue.

Diarmuid had spent time in both Australia and the U.S. where this active lifestyle was more prominent. He felt there was an opportunity to promote an Irish brand.

He also saw a rise in athletic clothing. People everywhere were wearing hoodies and yoga pants, even to work. Athleisure wear could be a way to connect with an active audience and encourage the lifestyle.

The trio set out to boldly tell their target audience exactly who they were with that distinct name: Gym Plus Coffee.

If you’re interested in being active, going to the gym, throwing on a hoodie and meeting friends for coffee after, then this brand is for you. Diarmuid and company went all in. In their words:

“As soon as we’d made the call to order some hoodies, which remains our flagship product, we thought that there was no going back. Either that or we’d have a lifetime supply of hoodies.”

G+C went from idea to launch in just under six months. They wanted to sprint, not crawl!

In year one, 2017, they achieved healthy six-figure revenue. They grew that number by 400% in 2018 and are on track to grow it another 300% in 2019. Diarmuid has since stepped away from his job at the ad agency and gone full-time.

The team is now focused on becoming a recognized global brand and furthering their mission to “Make Life Richer.” Their customer base has already grown substantially throughout Europe and the U.S. On the horizon are new product launches, their first international store, and creating even more “experiences” for their customers.

Revenge of Bat Houses: There’s More Than One Seller!

What It’s About

Bats and bat houses make a triumphant return to Side Hustle School!

[podcast_details]

Words of Wisdom

Here are words of advice from Steve:

1. Stay in your lane: if you’re the wildlife biologist, do that. 2. Be brave: If no one else on earth is doing what you’re doing or selling a product like yours, don’t be afraid of that. 3. Don’t make it all about the money: Sure, you need money, but don’t let that stop you.

Fun Fact

Bats play an important role in many environments around the world. Some plants depend partly or wholly on bats to pollinate their flowers or spread their seeds, while other bats also help control pests by eating insects. In the UK, some bats are ‘indicator species’, because changes to these bat populations can indicate changes in aspects of biodiversity. Bats might suffer when there are problems with insect populations (because our bats feed on insects) or when habitats are destroyed or poorly managed (for example, some bats only live in large woodlands).

Notes from Chris

Episode 909

Let’s face it—bats get a bad rap. Bats conjure cave-dwelling creepy creatures or deadly, blood-sucking vampires. But one man is sticking up for these important mammals and is building them custom Big Bat Houses… or three men, actually, considering Ep. 877.

Steve Barlow grew up in a beautiful, natural setting in North Central Florida. He always loved wildlife and was an aspiring biologist by the age of ten. After five years in the US Army, Steve earned bachelor’s degrees in biology and chemistry, and then a master’s in Wildlife Ecology. He was dismayed by the loss of habitat that came with rampant development and dedicated his life to wildlife. In particular, he wanted to expose people in urban areas and suburbs to natural beauty.

Out of college, he worked at Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Part of his job involved designing and building bat houses. This was a natural fit—his dad had been a builder, so he grew up around construction. But he was frustrated that his work felt mired in bureaucracy. When he complained to his dad, his father said something to Steve that he will never forget: “Son, obstacles are opportunities in disguise. It is your responsibility to find a way around, over or through the obstacle.”

Steve understood how crucial bats are to our ecology system. They are pollinators for our gardens, forests, and communities. They eat insects that would otherwise require pesticides. They help spread seed, diversifying vegetation.

So in 2003, he started Wildlife Integration, with the goal of providing blueprints for community-sized bat houses. That’s right, it’s a build-your-own bat house. The blueprints allow landowners, farmers, or park rangers to easily build and install one or more of these houses.

These educational spectacles foster a love of nature and bats that help to accomplish his mission of bringing wildlife and people together in a positive way. Thousands of bats pour out of each bat house every evening. Watching the bats leave the house at sunset is quite the sight.

His side-hustle now brings in about $20,000 annually and he is working on a new product that’s a logical extension—the Chimney Swift Roost Tower and Nesting Post, which integrates bird houses onto preexisting marker poles scattered across the country. This is in addition to his day job is Director of Energy Partnerships at The National Wild Turkey Federation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey. (Side note: I don’t think it has anything to do with bourbon.)

It wasn’t all easy flying—right off the bat he faced naysayers and people who thought he was batty. Even the employees at a local home improvement store laughed at him when he went in with a shopping list of materials to build his first house. But like his beloved bats, he went out on a limb and decided to hang in there.

Steve says that the best part of the experience so far is the gratitude he feels knowing that he’s helped millions of bats and has given people the opportunity to enjoy watching them. Proving, if you build it, they might come.
