“Run your own race and try not to compare yourself to others. No one has the same story. That's what makes you, you.”
In this week's Throwback Thursday segment, we hear from Rachel Park, breast cancer survivor and creator of the ParkPuff — a stylish, go-anywhere seatbelt pillow handmade in Los Angeles for cancer and surgery patients. Rachel is both the founder and a proud daily user.
Since her original feature, Rachel has been receiving more international orders and pivoted during the pandemic to launch a get-one-give-one face mask campaign — donating one to frontline medical workers and cancer patients in active treatment for every mask purchased. Demand was so high she had to shut down twice just to catch up with production.
Her ongoing challenge: keeping up as a one-woman operation handling everything from sewing to packing to shipping, while still including a handwritten card with every single order.
"Run your own race and try not to compare yourself to others. No one has the same story. That's what makes you, you and your product or service unique."
