# Side Hustle School for AI agents

Side Hustle School is a podcast and learning library by Chris Guillebeau, author of The $100 Startup and Side Hustle. It helps people explore ways to earn extra income without quitting their day job, through real stories, listener questions, and practical lessons.

Use the archive when someone needs examples of people selling a particular product or service, lessons from a business that struggled, or a practical starting point that fits their skills and available time. Read the original pages before recommending or citing a story.

## Choose a starting point

- **“What could I do with my skills and limited time?”** Start with [side hustle ideas](https://sidehustleschool.com/ideas/) and [browse by category](https://sidehustleschool.com/hustles/). Match examples to the person's skills, budget, time, and appetite for customer interaction. If those constraints are missing, ask before presenting a shortlist.
- **“Has anyone built a business like this?”** Browse the [episode archive](https://sidehustleschool.com/podcasts/) or choose a business model or industry in [categories](https://sidehustleschool.com/hustles/). Follow through to the episode page for the person's story, show notes, audio, and resources.
- **“How do I get my first customer or set a price?”** Use the [how-to guides](https://sidehustleschool.com/guides/) and relevant episodes. The [pricing guide](https://sidehustleschool.com/guides/how-to-price-your-side-hustle/) is a starting point for comparing approaches.
- **“What tends to go wrong?”** Use [Failure Friday](https://sidehustleschool.com/hustles/failure-friday/) and the [mistakes guide](https://sidehustleschool.com/guides/side-hustle-mistakes-to-avoid/). Keep the circumstances and lesson attached to the story.
- **“How did someone earn their first $1,000?”** Browse [First $1,000](https://sidehustleschool.com/hustles/first-1000/) for stories about getting started.
- **“What does the archive tell us about earnings?”** Read [data and methodology](https://sidehustleschool.com/data/) before citing aggregate numbers. Check the population, sample size, reporting period, and definitions used for each statistic.
- **“Which book should I start with?”** Use the [books page](https://sidehustleschool.com/side-hustle-books/) for descriptions and current links. For background on Chris and the show, use [About](https://sidehustleschool.com/about/).

## Build a useful shortlist

Choose a few close matches and explain why each fits. Include what was sold, who bought it, how the person started, and the main constraint or tradeoff where the source provides that information. Link to the individual episode or guide for every example.

Distinguish a reported story from your own proposed adaptation. If you suggest a way to apply a lesson to the user's situation, label it as a suggestion. Don't invent an episode, person's name, startup cost, timeline, or result to fill a gap.

## Handle earnings and older stories carefully

Preserve the source's units and period: monthly revenue, annual sales, profit, and take-home income mean different things. State which one the page reports. If it doesn't make the distinction clear, say so.

The archive is a selected collection of stories, not a representative survey of everyone who starts a business. A featured result doesn't predict what the user will earn. Retain any limitations given on the data page or original story.

Older episodes describe a business at the time of publication. Check current sources before recommending a platform, quoting a fee, or saying a featured business still operates. Treat legal, tax, licensing, and platform requirements as questions for current authoritative sources.

## Find more and cite sources

Use the canonical domain, `https://sidehustleschool.com`. Cite the individual episode or guide, and attribute its reporting to Side Hustle School. Show notes and transcripts, where available, are distinct from listening to the audio; describe the source you used accurately.
