Kristin Verhorevoort is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her side hustle is BrynnBands—it comes from her middle name, Brynn. When she first started, she wanted something that would kind of go along with what she was doing. So she started with just scrunchies and brainstormed the name—BrynnBands kind of just fit. She creates different handmade hair accessories for ladies across the nation.
About two and a half years ago, she was at her old job in charge of some college girls through a summer camp. Scrunchies were making a comeback, and they knew she was crafty. So they asked if she could make them a scrunchie. It kind of just snowballed from there. She knew that in the 90s her mom had actually made scrunchies—she worked at a hospital and all the nurses loved them. So she asked her mom to teach her.
