Q&A: "Best way to get to market with nutrition bar…"
I've invented a new kind of protein snack I call the All-In Bar. It works for people with almost every dietary restriction, including gluten-free, vegan, and low-carb. As for how it tastes ... well, that part is a work in progress. But I'm thinking ahead! What are the steps to getting to market with my Everything Bar? How can I be on the shelves at Whole Foods one year from now?
Step 1: Solve that small problem of taste.
Step 2: Connect online and locally with other food producers. There are a lot of resources including guides, checklists, and networking events.
Step 3: Invest as much time in branding as you do with the product itself. It IS a competitive space and I don't believe you'll succeed with just a great all-in bar. You need a hook, a story, and great packaging.
Step 4: Start thinking logistics and distribution. Sure, you want Whole Foods—but what about your local co-op? That might be easier, and it will also get you some critical info. You'd rather fail in a small test at a local store or two than with the Whole Foods version of that.
So that's a lot of steps, and of course there are many steps within the steps. But now you know what to do and can start doing the work—at least as soon as the All-In Bar actually tastes as good as it promises to be. Good luck!
