In this week's Throwback Thursday segment, we hear from Dave Stevens, founder of IG Works — makers of the iHarvest Indoor Garden, an attractive hydroponic system that lets you grow up to 30 large plants (cucumbers, tomatoes, microgreens, and more) in a small living space.
Since the original episode, the iHarvest has become a pandemic-era hit — people looking for sustainable, at-home hobbies drove strong word-of-mouth. The company sold out twice in a single year.
They've also launched the iHarvest Micro Green Garden — a smaller countertop system for growing microgreens at home, free of herbicides and pesticides. Same core value proposition, smaller footprint.
Dave's advice for anyone entering the indoor gardening space: "recognize there's a new type of gardener emerging — one who doesn't have a lot of space and isn't very experienced. Simplicity is key. So is attractiveness, because nobody wants to be trapped in a small space with an unattractive garden."
