Leland is building a livestreaming content service for small businesses and events. His question: how does he find a specific niche to focus on?
He's right to look for one — "small businesses and events" covers an enormous range. A few directions worth exploring:
- Product launch livestreams — a startup's big reveal, streamed with a more polished, structured feel than just holding up a phone
- Product demos — a more formal extension of a business's social media, showing a product or service in action to a virtual audience
- Educational presentations — from chambers of commerce, co-working spaces like WeWork, or community events like Creative Mornings; could even be branded ("brought to you by…")
But before choosing, answer these: Why will people want to watch? Where does the audience come from? And what can you deliver that someone with a phone and an Instagram account can't? There are good answers — but they need to be part of your service design.
