What's the easiest way to build a landing page? If you want to get people to a website, but you don't have this website, or if you want to sell a product or a service, you need some way to send them or refer them. If you're building social media accounts, that's great, but usually better to collect email addresses or to sell a product directly. So you need a landing page for that. You want it to look good.
And these days that is easier than ever, but there's a lot of different platforms and options. So sometimes when things are easy, but there's a lot of options, it can become overwhelming and then it doesn't seem so easy. So let's see if we can simplify this a bit. We've got a listener question. Let's see if we can simplify the process of choosing between one of those platforms and options.
And where do you start, especially if you have limited technical skills. And some good news there, a lot of these options and platforms are super simple in terms of the technical skill. Hi team. I'm looking to create a website or landing page for my side hustle, but I'm not sure where to start. With so many options out there from WordPress to Squarespace to custom built sites, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. What do you guys recommend is the best or easiest way to build a professional looking website or landing page, especially for someone with limited technical skills.
Are there any specific platforms, templates or tools you guys suggest? - So when it comes to building this website or landing page, lots of options as noted. Some of them are better in some ways than others. Others are better than others. They have different features and such, but really it just comes down to personal preference.
Many of these companies have been sponsors of the podcast before in the past, just to note that. But I honestly think that a lot of them do a great job. So WordPress, let's just start with that. Extremely popular content management system. It actually powers over 40% of all websites.
So if you just think about that, 40% of all websites on the internet, huge. Has a ton of customizable themes and plugins. And you can also do anything with it pretty much. Now that said, WordPress does have a steeper learning curve compared to some other options. You need to handle your own hosting and security.
You gotta figure out some stuff that you don't have to figure out otherwise. So I just note it first because it is the biggest. I've used it for years. Squarespace, Wix, two other options. Not the same thing, Squarespace, Wix, separate companies.
They both have this user-friendly website builder system. You pay a monthly fee for it, but you can do a lot with it. A wide range of apps and integrations that will allow you to do all kinds of things. Shopify, another big one, initially focused on e-commerce and shipping products out. But now you can do pretty much anything with Shopify.
So another option that is a monthly kind of service. If you just need a landing page though, let's talk about that. What if you don't need a whole website? Lead pages, that's great for that. Lead pages is a landing page builder.
Specializes in creating high converting landing pages and opt-in forms. You get A/B testing as part of it. So it's really cool. You can set up two different versions. It will automatically, over time, adjust to whatever test you're running that works.
So that's really great if you're trying to capture opt-ins, if you're doing a product launch, a sales page, and then maybe one more option. There are plenty of others, but I wanna keep it basic. One more option is Card, C-A-R-D. This is a simple one-page website builder. You can make a landing page or a full website.
It has a range of templates. Again, it's drag and drop. Responsive design, it will look great on a phone. It will look good on your computer. You don't have to do any custom programming for that.
And it has a annual fee. So basically you wanna just pick one. You wanna look at all those, maybe spend half an hour, open all of them in different tabs, see how it feels, watch the little video. You're not gonna go wrong with any of them. So don't worry too much.
And if for some reason you get frustrated with it, then you can try a different one. The cost of changing is low.
