Say you have something to sell that's digitally delivered — a song, digital art, an e-book, a subscription, an event ticket. What's the best way to sell it? Today's caller, Kallie, has a very specific version of that question.

Hey, this is Kallie. I've been listening for years, ever since my sister recommended it to me. So here's my latest project: I'm making a fitness plan that comes with an e-book and audio download. I don't want it to be on Amazon — at least not at first. I want to control my own pricing and distribution and keep up with my customers through email. So how should I do that? What's the best way to sell a simple digital download? Should I set up a Shopify store, or is there an easier way that still looks good?

The easiest starting point is Gumroad, which specializes in exactly this: you upload your files, set a price, and it handles checkout and delivery. Payhip is another good option in the same vein, and these days Stripe makes accepting payments fairly straightforward too.

Because selling digital goods is so common now, there are plenty of choices — even the big platforms like Shopify support digital downloads. But when the goal is simple and good-looking, it's hard to beat Gumroad.
