Mastering the art of product launches. That is our focus today, or our case study today, I should say. We're going to follow a side hustler's journey from marketing enthusiast to launch specialist. He is getting paid helping entrepreneurs and authors make a splash with their product releases. So he's chosen to build this little marketing consultancy and agency.
I think it's just an agency of one person, nothing wrong with that. And I'm always encouraging people to specialize in something his specialization is product launches specifically. So this is part of a feature we call your first thousand dollars. How does somebody get going? How do they go from idea to income?
And of course, they can then scale that thousand dollars, often well beyond that point. But if you can make a thousand dollars, you can make much more. That's the whole premise behind this feature. We've been doing it for years every Monday. This is episode 2,858, a product launch manager.
We're going to hear today from Jake, I forget exactly where Jake is from. I was looking to see if I knew that, but I don't know if I do. In any case, Jake might tell us, or he might just tell us about his business. Let's hear about the first thousand dollars. How do you make it happen?
What did it feel like? What did he learn? Let's hear it from Jake along with a point of inspiration. I'll come back at the end with a few brief words of wrap up. I have always been fascinated by the buzz surrounding big product launches.
The anticipation and the strategic timing and the coordinated efforts. It's like conducting a marketing symphony. So when I decided to start a new consulting service, I knew exactly where I wanted to focus. Large support for internet marketers and authors and businesses. My background in digital marketing gave me a head start, but I needed to specialize.
I've already spent two thousand dollars on a popular course about product launch strategies. All I needed next was some basic tools like email marketing software and a project management apps. Finding my first client was a mix of strategy and luck. I've been following a few up and coming authors on Twitter, engaging with their content and offering occasional marketing tips. When one of them mentioned struggling with their upcoming book launch, I sent them a DM offering my services at like a discount.
To my surprise, they agreed. The first project was a whirlwind. I charged seven hundred fifty dollars for a comprehensive launch plan, email sequence writing and social media content creation. I poured, well, everything I had into it, often working late into the night after my day job. The author was still the results.
Their book hit top 100 on Amazon on launch day. My next client, a self-help guru, launched an online course, also came through Twitter. This time I charged twelve hundred dollars for a similar package. The launch was even more successful, generating over fifty thousand dollars in course sales on the first day. As my portfolio grew, so did my confidence and rates.
I started positioning myself as a launch specialist rather than a general marketer. This focus allowed me to command higher fees and attract more serious clients. My biggest challenge was managing the intense, time-bound nature of launches, with each project requiring weeks of preparation, culminating into a few days of non-stop action. I learned to stagger my clients and set clear boundaries to avoid burnout. There was a silver lining, though.
Each successful launch led to connections with other entrepreneurs and marketers. My first thousand dollars came pretty quickly. It was essentially my fee for the first author client. But the real milestone was hitting ten thousand dollars in revenue with my first three months. Now a year into my business, I'm averaging eight thousand to ten thousand dollars per month from two to three launches.
Looking ahead, I'm creating templates and processes to streamline my work. I'm considering bringing on subcontractors for special tasks like ad management. The world of product launches is ever-evolving, especially with the rise of platforms like TikTok and changes in email marketing regulations. Staying ahead of these trends is crucial. So I allocated time each week for learning and experimentation.
My advice for others, there's always room for specialists who can deliver results. And remember, in the world of launches, your success is directly tied to your client's success. So give it everything you've got. All right, we never did find out where Jake is from, but we did hear how he got his business going and he's now averaging eight thousand to ten thousand dollars a month from two to three launches. That seems pretty good, especially for a side hustle.
I love that. I think the key is specialization and really kind of going all in with this product launch focus. There are other product launch coaches or affiliate managers, you know, there's a few different people out there doing this kind of thing. But lots of people need help as well. There's something you can do as well for your next side hustle or small business, whatever it is you hope to grow.
And I hope you'll take not just that point of inspiration, but maybe a little practical motivation to move forward and take a next step today. That's my goal. That's why I make the show for you every day. sidehustleschool.com. Some resources.
