And here's some ways to maximize Airbnb earnings and so on, or even your primary home, doesn't have to be secondary. But today we've got a listener who's asking, what about some other options? Like what are some other ways to monetize beyond Airbnb?

I miss doing events and book tour. I'll be doing that again in the spring of 2025. So hopefully I'll get a chance to meet lots of readers and listeners out there. And let's talk about monetizing a property beyond just Airbnb. Obviously Airbnb is like one of those big things that people think about when they have a rental property or they want to do anything with property management, but it's not the only option.
So some other profitable ideas to look at potentially, and of course it all depends on the kind of property, your location, probably some other factors, zoning rules, regulations and such, but event hosting could be a lucrative way to utilize a property. So you could potentially run out of space for weddings, retreats, meetings, parties, even just community events. So you want to, if possible, have a flexible space, adapt your property to accommodate different types of events, invest in good lighting, a sound system, comfortable seating. If you think, well, I don't have a big venue for corporate retreats and weddings and such, well, film and photo shoots could be a great option. There's a website called PeerSpace.
It's actually a platform where people can list different spaces for rentals, even if it's just for a couple of hours of photo shoot or something that's being recorded in some other fashion. That can be really good for certain properties. So check out PeerSpace or Gigster is another one. Another option could be a co-working space, as mentioned briefly, transforming part of your property into a co-working space, again, for the right property, could attract freelancers, remote workers and small business owners. And then one more idea that I haven't mentioned, short-term storage.
If you have extra space, considering offering short-term storage solutions. People sometimes need temporary storage during a move or renovation, and a storage unit isn't always the best option. That's more long-term. So that could be one option. There's probably some other stuff that we haven't even talked about, fitness and wellness classes, urban farming, as noted.
Maybe you could sell produce locally or offer workshops and tours, pop-up shops and markets. I don't know, there's all kinds of ideas. But the question is, what is right for your property? What is right for you? And I think that's always important to not just try to put your idea into a box, to more think about what are the best options for this idea and how can I then maximize on those options.
