Welcome to 2024. We are back. Welcome as well to season eight. Season eight of Side Hustle School. Thank you for tuning in today, January 1, episode 2,557.
I am so excited to bring you the beginning of a new season of Side Hustle School. I'm also gonna share something with you today, a big announcement. Several things here today. Let's start with new year, new you, right? Everybody's always talking about new year, new me.
Everybody's posting motivational messages. The gym is gonna be packed. And then of course, within two weeks, it'll be back to how it's been. You know, as for me, here's what I think about new year, new you. I'm like, I kind of like who I am.
Like I don't actually want to be entirely new. I want to carry forward the things I like about myself and that are going well. But of course I also want to improve, right? So what about being the same you, but better? Or maybe the same you, but just different somehow.
Like let's use this time to make a positive change. I do think resets are helpful. Like we might as well use this time to make a reset. I know it's an arbitrary date in lots of ways, January 1, but sometimes that's helpful. So just in case you had a difficult year last year, I do want to speak to that person out there who had a hard 2023, might as well turn the page.
Like let's try to do that together. So I'm gonna be thinking of you as we all begin something new today. And I also want to say a big welcome to any new listeners of the podcast. I've been making this show every day since January 1, 2017, but people continue to join and sometimes they drop off for a while then they come back. And so we have a core group that has remained constant.
Thank you so much if that's you, but then we also have new people. So if you're new, then it's so awesome to have you. You don't have to go back and listen to all 2,500 plus episodes to catch up. Although you can if you want, some people do that, but you can also just jump right in because every single day this year, I'm gonna be bringing you a new episode all about making extra money without quitting your job. That's what a side hustle is, a money making project and not just a small amount of money, hopefully, but something that can change your life in a positive, meaningful way.
We have stories all the time of listeners quitting their jobs. We have six figure side hustle, sometimes multiple six figures or more. And even if you're just starting and your goal is to make $500 a month or $1,000 a month apart from your day job income, well, let's make that happen, okay? We can definitely make that happen. So a few things I'd like to tell you about here today, gonna give you a rundown of the format of the show for season eight, starting on episode 2,557, that's today, and going through whatever plus 365 is, not so good at math, but there will be a new episode every day.
I also wanna talk about a brand new project that I'm starting today and it's gonna be a big focus of mine throughout the year. So that's what we'll do here. Starting with the podcast, daily episodes will continue as mentioned, as noted. You can count on it every day, wherever you subscribe or follow. For now, we're gonna stick with mostly the same segment styles that we've been doing for the past year or so.
We have several question and answer episodes each week. We have a throwback Thursday segment. We have a segment called Failure Friday, and we have a segment called First Thousand Dollars. We might mix things up somewhere midpoint, but for now, we kinda like what we're doing. I do wanna say big thanks to Chuck Reed, our producer.
He just mixed some new intro music, hope you like it. He works on all the music and all the production. So Chuck has done, I think, more than 1,500 episodes. We also have a couple of other members of the team who help out from time to time, but it really is a pretty small operation. And as for me, I don't take anything for granted.
So if there's a way we can improve, tell me. Like, I am listening. This is a community-centered, organic podcast. Nothing is for sale, it's all completely free. There's no paywall to the site.
There's no membership community that you need to access any of those 2,500-plus archival episodes. And we're able to do that because of the limited advertising model. So I really do appreciate our sponsors. We've got two messages typically in every episode, one in the beginning and one in the middle. We do our best to find sponsors who are aligned with the values of the podcast, some stuff that'll be helpful to our listeners.
So let's do that middle message now. And when we return, you're gonna be the first person to hear about my new project and focus for 2024. Really the very first person, unless you happen to be listening like a week later. But if you are, it's okay, it's still relevant because I'm gonna be doing it all throughout the year. So either way, don't go anywhere, 30 seconds.

All right, so here's what I'm gonna be doing. A new thing just starting this week, starting today in fact, depending on when you're listening, but January 1 is when it begins. It's called YearOfMentalHealth.com. YearOfMentalHealth.com. I'm gonna be writing a new newsletter.
It goes out three days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7 a.m. Pacific time. And I'm calling this a year-long experiment in purposeful productivity, all through the lens of mental health and wellbeing. I'm gonna be sharing a lot of personal stories, including some I've never told before. I'm gonna talk about my experience with ADHD and entrepreneurship, learning to understand neurodivergence, what's been particularly helpful for me and what hasn't.
I'm not entirely sure how it's all gonna turn out. This series is not pre-written. It's gonna unfold in real time, but I'm really excited to share it with a community. If you are on the Side Hustle School email list, then you might automatically get an invitation to this, either today or tomorrow or in the next few days. So you can check it out for yourself.
And as noted, I identify as neurodivergent. I do have ADHD, also struggle with depression and anxiety sometimes. So if you don't, like you might wonder, is this still for you, right? And it's a fair question. The answer is yes, everyone can be more purposeful and productive.
'Cause again, it's about purposeful productivity. I think we could also all use some more mental health, especially coming out of the pandemic and just some of the changes in the past few years in the world in general. So that's why I'm doing this. You'reofmentalhealth.com, it's free, and there's a paid version. So there's two versions.
I would love for you to subscribe to either one, okay? So most of the content's gonna be completely free. The paid version is just $7 a month. I know inflation is crazy these days, like you can't walk outside without spending $30. But apparently I haven't got the memo yet because I'm pricing it super low.
I really wanna focus on making something that's helpful to people. So again, it's yourofmentalhealth.com. Would love for you to check it out and subscribe. If it's not for you, I totally understand. Of course the podcast will continue.
As long as you're subscribed to Side Hustle School, you can still look forward to the new episodes here. And that's pretty much it. I'm excited for all that's to come this year. I hope to bring you something valuable. So let's get into it starting with tomorrow's episode.
Happy 2024, my friends. The best is yet to come. [Music]
