It's all about the regular people out there who want to create economic empowerment for themselves. And in fact, that is our goal, to empower and inspire our listeners to turn their passions and skills into a successful side hustle. So today we've got an interesting question from Josh in Phoenix.
Now Josh is a voice actor, he's got some experience. He also has a desire to help others break into the industry. So he's considering starting a side hustle offering voiceover coaching and workshops. For all those aspirational voiceover artists out there, let's explore how Josh can create an engaging coaching program or some kind of program. It could be structured in a couple of different ways, but overall inspire others to follow their passion.
And not just their passion, but follow their passion to the bank. Okay, detailed question and my response coming up right after this quick message from our sponsor. [Music]
Hi, I'm Josh from Phoenix, a professional voice actor with experience in commercials, video games and audio books. I've trained with top voiceover coaches and have a fully equipped home studio. I've been considering offering voiceover coaching services as a side hustle, helping clients develop their vocal range, character voices and audition techniques.
How can I create a curriculum tailored to individual needs and market my coaching services to aspiring voice actors as well as industry professionals seeking to improve their skills? - Josh, great to have you on the podcast. I'm gonna make a statement here that will guide the rest of my answer. And I think it is pretty important. Like I'm always sharing opinions and of course, people can disagree and do their own thing, but I do have a pretty strong experience opinion here.
And it is to start by identifying the unique challenges and needs of aspiring voice actors. And I think, here's the opinion, what they need is more about business and marketing and less about the technical skills. There's different ways they're gonna learn about the technical skill of voice acting. I mean, their workshops, their resources, and all that is good and important, but there are a lot of people who have some talents, but they don't really know much at all about the business and marketing side, how to actually get clients, grow their business and so on. And that's really what they need.
That is the desperate need of aspiring voice actors, in my opinion and experience. So I would say if you agree with that, start with that principle and build everything around that. Build everything around the principle of like, we're gonna help you get booked more often. We're gonna help you get better jobs, higher paying jobs. We're gonna help you get more sustainable, perhaps recurring jobs, and I don't know exactly how to do this, right?
But maybe you do, right? That is, again, that's the desperate need of voice actors. So there's a lot you could do from that principle. You can start creating some content that showcases your expertise, anything that's helpful, the legacy content, that flagship content that you wanna show off, could be in a blog post, could be in a YouTube video, could be a podcast, whatever it is you're trying to establish yourself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy coach in the industry, could do some kind of free webinar or workshop that can give people a taste of your teaching style, the insights you have to offer, you wanna collect testimonials. I mean, all these different things we've talked about at different times, but I would say start with that principle of like, how can you help them succeed in business and marketing, not just about developing the vocal range, the audition techniques.
I mean, you can do that too, but I just think the more desperate need is in helping people get booked for jobs. Just my two cents there, cheering you on. Josh, let us know how it goes. Listeners, if you have a question, sidehustleschool.com/questions, we'll continue to feature them every week. In fact, there's a new episode every day.
