What It's About
A listener wants to know if there are any downsides to accepting more types of payment.
Notes from Chris
Episode 1421
When you set up an ecommerce site, you have to make a number of decisions. It’s easier than it ever has been—with companies such as Squarespace and Shopify providing turnkey solutions—but you still need to set up your inventory, adjust various settings, and decide how you will accept payment. That brings us to today’s question! This listener is wondering about adding new options for accepting payment, including checking debits and crytopocurrency. Is more always better?"Hi Chris, this is Emily from Seattle and I’ve been listening to the show since episode 1. Still enjoying the puns. My sister and I are about to launch our online store soon, and we’re going to use a combination of Stripe and PayPal. With Stripe, you can choose which credit cards you want to accept. In addition, I see that some websites have lots of other ways to process payments, including direct checking account withdrawals, cryptocurrency, and more. Part of me thinks this is overkill, but another part wonders: might it be better to have more options to pay? I don’t want to turn anyone away. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this.
